Round 21

Letter B

My 151-th entry

Started: 28-08-2014 : 15-G

I’ve started this new round, totally new version also, of ABC with music.

Now…some days later I think about how to fill in the next letter, the B. Shall I or shall I not return to what I’ve started? I decide to do so, music has been the most important thing to me as long as I can remember. My nickname is Melody and for a reason! ABC is now ‘mine’ so what better way could I choose to fill in the first round of a meme which I may call mine?

Thus I present an other piece of music to you which I remember from my childhood. As a very young girl I had an uncle and an aunt who had lots and lots, countless, lp’s which they allowed me to borrow after they gave me a record player at my 12th birthday in 1974. They lived in the same street as we did so many times I went over to bring records back and take some others home. Thanks to them I came in contact with many different styles of music, their love for it has jumped over to me. What wonderful memories I have!!

The B it is today… I’ve chosen Brenda Lee, (oh by the way, this song of hers may not be a happy one but still it is one of my favorites) and I hope you enjoy my entry!

Have a ♥-warming ABC-day / – week!

  1. That’s a song even I remember from times gone by
you have chosen a nice B for this meme
    a truly nice melody

  2. Oh my gosh Melody! I remember dancing to that song in junior high school and just hearing the melody. I thought it was so romantic! But now it almost brought me to tears! I guess when we’re young, we are full of hope and anticipation of love, but at this age, we’ve been through so much trial and tribulation that this song now brings memories of such pain. Such a beautiful melody, though, and thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Leslie.

I am sorry if I caused tears to come up, that was not my intention ofcourse.

You are right…in those days we did not expect anything at all like what happened to us, And that’s a good thing.

You know I wish you all the best, I hope! You’ve had pain enough already so my prayer for you is all the luck, love and happiness for the rest of your life and may that be for countless years to come!!

LIke I wrote in my intro, it is not a happy song but still, it is one of my favorites of her.

      Big hug to you!

  7. I wrote about the Skeeter Davis version of the song here: https://www.rogerogreen.com/2014/06/11/the-end-of-the-world/ It was also covered by the late actress Patty Duke.

  8. That was a trip down Memory Lane for me! So many memories.

  9. Its a great song, I don’t remember the Brenda Lee version so was puzzling which was the one I remember from way back then, of course Roger came up with the answer.

  10. Well I haven’t heard that song for a long time, probably not since 1963. Things, and songs, and life were so different back then.
